Borg BL2702SCECP Mechanical Digital Lock – Satin Chrome – 28mm Ali-Latch – EasiCode Pro with Key Override
The Borg BL2702SCECP is a fully mechanical digital lock from the BL2700 ECP series, fitted with a 28mm aluminium mortice ali-latch in place of a standard tubular latch. The shorter 28mm backset is designed for internal doors with a narrow stile where a full-depth latch will not fit, and the ali-latch geometry makes this model compatible with electric strike release systems — allowing the door to be released remotely without operating the inside handle. No batteries, no mains power, and no electronics are required; all mechanisms are driven entirely by the keypad button actions.
The lock includes Borg’s EasiCode Pro on-door code change system and a Silca YA5 6-pin mechanical key override cylinder. The inside handle is a free-turn knob with a removable holdback function. A code change block pin is supplied, which can optionally be inserted to disable the external code change function entirely.
Cycle tested to 100,000 operations, the BL2702SCECP is rated for internal light to medium use on timber and composite doors 35–54mm thick. It is suitable for office doors, bathroom doors, server rooms, and any access point where narrow stile geometry or electric strike compatibility is required.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
Suited to narrow-stile internal doors, office and bathroom doors, and access points requiring electric strike compatibility.
For heavy-duty requirements, consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The 28mm ali-latch is designed for narrow door stiles and is compatible with electric strike release systems. The latch geometry allows the door to be released by an electric strike without operating the inside handle, enabling integration with intercom systems and access control wiring.
The access code can be changed directly on the installed lock without any tools or lock removal. No programming devices, apps, or specialist equipment required.
Supplied with a Silca YA5 6-pin key override cylinder and 2 keys. Keyed alike ordering is available (minimum 2 locks) for installations requiring a common key across multiple doors.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ali-latch and why does it use a 28mm backset?
An ali-latch (aluminium mortice latch) is a compact latch body designed for doors where the stile is too narrow to accommodate a standard 60mm tubular latch. The 28mm backset places the spindle hole closer to the door edge, making it suitable for aluminium-framed doors and timber doors with narrow stiles. The ali-latch body is also compatible with electric strike release systems, which is not typical of a standard tubular latch. For help measuring your door’s backset, see our guide on measuring your lock backset.
How does the electric strike compatibility work?
An electric strike is a strike plate with an electrically-operated keeper that can release the latch without the door being operated from the inside. When the electric strike is activated — by an intercom button, access control reader, or timer — the latch bolt is released and the door can be pushed open from the outside. The PIN code on the BL2702SCECP controls external access in the normal way; the electric strike provides an additional remote release path. Confirm that the electric strike you are pairing is rated for this latch body before ordering.
Can this lock be ordered keyed alike with other BL2702 locks?
Yes. Keyed alike ordering is available for the BL2702SCECP with a minimum order of 2 locks. This allows a single key to operate the override cylinders across multiple doors. Contact Terry’s when placing your order to specify keyed alike requirements.
Does this lock require batteries or mains power to operate?
No. The BL2702SCECP is a fully mechanical digital lock. All internal mechanisms are driven by the physical action of the keypad buttons. No electricity, batteries, or wiring are involved in the keypad operation at any point. For a broader overview of battery-free Borg locks, see Chapter 10 – Brand Profiles in the Smart Lock Buyer’s Guide.
Will the 56.3mm keypad projection cause issues on doors with a security screen?
Possibly. The BL2702 keypad projects 56.3mm from the door surface due to the key cylinder housing — significantly more than a standard tubular latch model. If your door has a security screen or flyscreen, you must confirm there is at least 60mm of clearance between the main door face and the screen door when both are closed before ordering. See our guide on checking clearance between door and security screen.
Additional Information
The BL2702 ali-latch is designed for use with electric strikes. For the electric strike release to function correctly, the strike must be matched to the latch body dimensions (face plate 96mm × 26mm, bolt projection 15.5mm). Always confirm strike compatibility before ordering. The latch is reinforced with a nylon insert to reduce wear at the strike interface. Ensure the strike is properly aligned and secured — misalignment will prevent reliable latch engagement and may cause premature wear. See our guide on measuring your lock backset before drilling.
The BL2702 keypad has a total projection of 56.3mm from the door surface, compared to 21.8mm for the BL2701 tubular latch model. This additional depth is caused by the key cylinder housing. On doors fitted with a security screen or flyscreen, confirm clearance of at least 60mm between the main door face and the screen before ordering. For guidance on measuring clearance, see our blog on checking clearance between your door and security screen.
EasiCode Pro allows the access code to be changed at any time while the lock remains installed, using the dedicated button and the supplied block pin. The process takes approximately 30 seconds. The block pin can also be inserted permanently to disable the external code change function — preventing anyone from changing the code at the keypad without first removing the lock. See our guide on how long digital door locks last for context on lifespan expectations.
The lock is supplied keyed to differ as standard. Keyed alike ordering is available (minimum 2 locks) for installations where a single key must operate the override cylinders on multiple doors. Specify keyed alike at the time of order — cylinders cannot be rekeyed in the field without disassembly. If a master keyed or restricted profile is required, confirm YA5-compatible cylinder availability with your locksmith before ordering.
