BORG BL4401KMGPRO Lever Keypad Only - Marine Grade Pro - Black
The Borg BL4401KMGPRO is a Marine Grade Pro external lever keypad designed as a replacement unit or custom installation component for the Borg BL4400 series gate lock range. It is the standard (non-ECP) variant, using a tweezers-based tumbler code change performed at a workbench with the unit removed from the door. If you need on-door code changing, see the BL4401KMGPROECP (Easicode Pro version).
Built with 316 stainless steel internal components and a Black Marine Grade Pro 2 coating, the BL4401KMGPRO is salt-spray tested to 1,000 hours and is rated for exposed external and coastal gate installations. Over 8,000 possible code combinations are available using the 12 coded buttons.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Queensland public holidays).
This product is supplied as a keypad unit only. It does not include a latch, inside handle, strike plate, spindle, or fixing screws. It is designed for replacing a worn or damaged outside keypad on an existing BL4401 installation, or for custom installations where the inside hardware and latch are sourced separately. See Compatible Host Locks below for the full locks this keypad suits.
The BL4401KMGPRO carries Borg's Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro 2) coating and 316 stainless steel internal components, achieving 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray testing. This makes it one of the most corrosion-resistant mechanical digital keypads in the BL4400 range and an appropriate choice for beachside, poolside, or exposed coastal gate applications. For a full explanation of Borg's MG Pro grading system, see MG Pro and Salt Spray Testing Explained.

Latch, inside handle, spindle, strike plate, and full lock body are not included. This is a keypad replacement unit only. A compatible BL4401 complete gate lock is required for new installations.
Compatible Host Locks
The BL4401KMGPRO is the external keypad component for the following Borg Marine Grade Pro complete gate locks and entry sets. It replaces the outside keypad on an existing installation, or provides the keypad half for a custom build sourcing the lock body and inside hardware separately.
Fitting this non-ECP keypad to an ECP host lock removes the on-door ECP code change capability - the lock will then use the tumbler bench-change method. If ECP capability is important, use the BL4401KMGPROECP replacement keypad instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Code changing requires removing the keypad from the door and working at a bench. With the cover plate removed, you use tweezers to reposition the red coded tumblers in the coding chamber - each tumbler you move adds a button to the code. The clear C-button tumbler must never be removed. Codes can be 3 to 7 digits in length. For the detailed step-by-step procedure, see The Bench Method and Borg Standard Chambers: Series Notes. Spare tumblers and change keys are available separately - see Change Keys and Spare Tumblers.
The BL4401KMGPROECP is the Easicode Pro (ECP) version. With ECP, code changes are done on the door in seconds without removing the keypad. The ECP keypad uses a single fixed-PIN chamber (4,000+ combinations) while this standard version uses tweezers and tumblers at a workbench (8,000+ combinations). For a clear explanation of both systems, see ECP Explained.
Yes - the MG Pro 2 coating and 316 stainless steel internals are specifically designed for this use. At 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray testing, the BL4401KMGPRO outperforms most residential-grade gate hardware. For comparison and context, see MG Pro Salt Spray Testing Explained.
It depends on the host lock. For the BL4401MGPRO and BL4401MGPROECP complete gate locks, this keypad fits directly as a replacement. For the BL4441MGPROECP back-to-back model and BL4409MGPROECP slam latch, confirm fitment before ordering. Contact us if you are unsure which keypad suits your lock body.
Additional Information
The BL4401 series can include a holdback function, but this is a feature of the inside handle mechanism on the full lock body, not the external keypad. This keypad replacement unit does not add or remove holdback capability. If holdback is important, check the host lock specification - the BL4401MGPRO supports holdback; the BL4409MGPROECP slam latch does not. For a full explainer, see Passage Mode vs Holdback Mode.
The BL4400 series is designed for residential gates and light commercial applications such as sheds, storage yards, and amenity enclosures. For high-volume pedestrian access where the gate is opened many dozens of times daily, consider a heavier-rated product such as the Carbine CDL7100SC. The Mechanical Digital Locks Buyer's Guide - Gate Section covers gate lock selection in detail.
The lever handle on this keypad reverses without tools - there is no left-hand or right-hand version to order. This makes it straightforward to fit to gates of either handing and to flip direction if the gate configuration changes. For double-sided gate locking without a second keypad purchase, see the BL4441MGPROECP back-to-back lock. An overview of double-sided gate lock options is available at Why Double-Sided Locks Are a Smart Choice for Gates.
