Borg BL2201SCECP Mechanical Digital Lock – Knob Keypad – Satin Chrome – Easicode Pro – Holdback
The Borg BL2201SCECP is a light duty fully mechanical digital lock featuring a knob keypad on the outside and an inside paddle handle with holdback. Easicode Pro (ECP) allows the PIN to be changed while the lock is installed — no lock removal required. Finished in satin chrome and cycle tested to 50,000 operations, the BL2201SCECP is the entry-level ECP model in the BL2000 knob keypad range.
Single-sided: the outside knob is clutched and requires a PIN to operate; the inside paddle handle is always free for immediate egress. The holdback facility allows the latch to be held retracted for free passage when required. Suitable for light duty internal and sheltered external timber and composite doors from 35mm to 54mm thick. No batteries.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The PIN code can be changed while the lock is installed using the included code change key. Insert the key into the ★ (star) button, press and hold, press C to clear, enter new code digits, confirm, then release. No lock removal required. A code change deactivation plug is included to prevent unauthorised code changes.
The inside paddle handle is always free to operate. No code is required to open the door from inside.
After entering the code and operating the knob, the holdback can be engaged to keep the latch retracted — allowing free passage without code entry. The holdback device can be permanently removed from the lock if not required.
The BL2201SCECP is the light duty ECP model in the BL2000 knob keypad range, cycle tested to 50,000 operations. It is suited to low-frequency internal applications — offices, storage, amenities, and similar. For medium duty applications or higher cycle requirements, see the BL2501SSECP (100,000 cycles, satin stainless).
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For medium duty with ECP: BL2501SSECP (100,000 cycles). For heavy duty: Borg BL7701 or Lockwood DX.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount a Borg 2000 or 4000 series on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm aluminium frame? Worried if the standard latch included in the box will fit?
You’re right — it won’t.
To get this lock working properly on gate frames, you’ll need a shorter latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between BL2201SCECP and BL2501SSECP?
Both are ECP on-door code change knob keypads with holdback. The BL2201SCECP is light duty — cycle tested to 50,000 operations — and is finished in satin chrome. The BL2501SSECP is from the Codestar range — medium duty, cycle tested to 100,000 operations — and is finished in satin stainless. Choose BL2201SCECP for light duty internal residential and small office applications; choose BL2501SSECP where a higher duty rating or satin stainless finish is required.
What is the difference between BL2201SCECP and BL2200SC?
Both are 60mm, satin chrome, holdback, light duty knob keypads. The BL2201SCECP has Easicode Pro on-door code change (no removal). The BL2200SC uses the traditional tumbler system (lock removal required, 8,000+ combinations). Choose BL2201SCECP where on-door code changes will be performed; choose BL2200SC where the code is rarely changed.
How do I change the PIN code with ECP?
With the door open, enter the current code. Insert the ECP code change key into the ★ (star) button, press and hold fully. Press C to clear. Enter the new code digits. Press all digits again to confirm. Release and remove the key. Test the new code at least 5 times before closing the door. The code is non-sequential — buttons can be pressed in any order.
How do I use and remove the holdback?
To engage holdback: enter the code, operate the knob to retract the latch, then engage the holdback device on the inside paddle. To release: operate the inside paddle. To permanently remove: the holdback device can be removed from the inside paddle handle before or after installation without affecting the lock's normal operation.
Is the BL2201SCECP suitable for external use?
It is suitable for sheltered external doors in normal weather conditions. Not for coastal, saline, or harsh weather environments. For marine or coastal applications, see the BL2601MGPROECP (Marine Grade Pro, ECP, 1,000hr salt spray).
Additional Information
The BL2000 ECP series uses the ★ (star) button to initiate code change — different from the BL5000 ECP series which uses the Φ button. Always test the new code at least 5 times before closing the door. Use the included deactivation plug to prevent unauthorised code changes after setting.
The 50,000 cycle rating is appropriate for doors that are used a few times per day — a domestic or small office door used 10–20 times daily would reach 50,000 cycles in approximately 7–14 years. For doors with higher daily usage, the BL2501SSECP (100,000 cycles) or a lever-handle model such as the BL5001MGPROECP provides a longer service life between servicing intervals.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor for Borg Locks.
