The Borg BL2615 MG Pro ECP is a fully mechanical Marine Grade Pro digital gate lock with a horizontal rim deadbolt. Unlike tubular latches or gate slam latches that mount into the door edge or face, the BL2615 bolts horizontally into a strike fixed to the gate post. This makes it the correct lock for applications where vertical height on the gate frame is limited, where a rim-mounted horizontal bolt is specified, or where a strong mechanical deadbolt is preferred over a spring latch for external gate security.
Operating logic: enter the code on the keypad to retract the bolt and open the gate. To lock from inside, rotate the internal knob to throw the bolt. The bolt remains thrown until the correct code is entered again from outside. There is no spring latch mechanism - the gate stays locked until deliberately opened. For gates that must auto-latch on close (such as pool barriers), this is not the correct product - see the BL3430 MG Pro ECP or BL3400 MG Pro ECP which include spring latches.

The BL2615 uses a stainless steel laminated horizontal deadbolt with a 40mm throw. The bolt travels laterally into a rim or mortice strike on the gate post - not into the door edge. Both a rim strike and a mortice strike are supplied. The strike has an oversized vertical cutout to allow for gate movement and flex without disengaging the bolt. The BL2615 is a deadbolt, not a spring latch. Closing the gate does not lock it - someone must actively turn the inside knob to throw the bolt. If auto-latching is a requirement (for example a pool gate that must self-latch under Queensland pool safety legislation), this lock is not the correct product. The BL2615 uses a horizontal rim deadbolt - the bolt travels laterally (horizontally) into a strike on the gate post, rather than vertically or into the door edge like a tubular latch. There is no spring-return latch function; closing the gate does not auto-latch it. This makes it suitable where a positive deadbolt mechanism is required, or where vertical height on the gate frame is too limited for a conventional gate lock. To open from outside: enter the code on the keypad - the bolt retracts, allowing the gate to be pushed or pulled open. To lock from inside: rotate the internal knob to throw the bolt into the strike. The gate is now deadbolted and requires the code to open from outside. Note: the bolt will not automatically throw when the gate closes - you must actively turn the knob to lock it after each close.
Non-handed means the lock body can be configured for either a left or right hand gate without ordering a different product. Two interchangeable faceplates are supplied. Select the faceplate that suits your gate hand (determined from the outside - left hand = hinges on the left; right hand = hinges on the right), attach it to the lock body, and install. With the gate in the open position, enter the current code. Insert the Easicode Pro code change key into the hole in the * button and hold it down fully. Press C to clear the existing code. Enter the new code digits. Release the code change key. Press C to set the new code. Test the new code at least 5 times before closing the gate. ISPS refers to the International Ship and Port Security Code, an international framework of measures to enhance the security of ships and port facilities. ISPS compliance for a lock means it meets the access control hardware requirements recognised under the ISPS framework. This makes the BL2615MGPROECP appropriate for marine facility gate access, port perimeter gates, and marina security applications where ISPS compliance is a specification requirement.

This is a deadbolt, not a spring latch. The gate will not lock itself when it swings closed. Someone must actively turn the inside knob to throw the bolt after closing. If auto-latching is a requirement (for example a pool gate that must self-latch to comply with Queensland pool safety legislation), this lock is not the correct product. Weekly: clean the keypad and deadbolt surfaces with marine-grade chrome polish; spray exposed bolt parts with WD40 or equivalent and wipe clean. Annually: remove the lock from the gate; spray the inside thoroughly with WD40 through the button holes at the back; spray all fixings and the deadbolt; press each button and operate the deadbolt several times to confirm smooth operation. The oversized vertical cutout in both supplied strikes is specifically engineered to allow the gate post and gate to move relative to each other (due to wind loading, post flex, or seasonal movement) without the bolt disengaging. When positioning the strike, ensure the bolt engages cleanly in the centre of the cutout and that there is adequate vertical clearance for the expected gate movement at the installation site. A misaligned strike will either prevent bolt engagement or create binding and accelerated wear.
The rim strike is surface-mounted to the face of the gate post - easier to install and suits most applications. The mortice strike is recessed into the gate post for a cleaner appearance and more secure bolt engagement - it requires a mortice pocket to be cut in the post. Both have an oversized vertical cutout. Select based on your gate post material, aesthetics preference, and available installation time. For aluminium gate posts, the rim strike is almost always the correct choice.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty.

The Horizontal Rim Deadbolt - How It Works
A horizontal rim deadbolt throws a square bolt laterally (sideways) into a strike on the gate post. Unlike a tubular latch (which spring-returns and auto-latches), a deadbolt stays in whatever position it was last put - thrown or withdrawn. Unlike a hook bolt (BL2506, BL2606) which only suits sliding gates, the horizontal deadbolt suits swinging gates. Unlike a standard rim deadbolt (BL2605), the horizontal orientation means installation height on the gate post is minimal, making it ideal where the gate frame is narrow. To open from outside: enter your PIN code on the keypad. The bolt retracts and you can push or pull the gate open. To lock from inside: rotate the inside knob. The bolt throws into the strike and the gate is deadbolted. You cannot lock the gate from outside without the code. You cannot open the gate from outside without the code. From inside, the knob always operates the bolt freely - no code required.

If you want the gate to be locked after closing, someone must physically turn the inside knob to throw the bolt. If your application requires the gate to auto-lock on closing (such as a pool gate under Queensland pool safety legislation), the BL2615 is not the correct lock. Both are supplied. The rim strike is surface-mounted to the face of the gate post - simpler to install and the correct choice for most aluminium gate post applications. The mortice strike is recessed into the post for a cleaner look and slightly more secure bolt engagement, but requires cutting a mortice pocket. For timber gate posts, either works well. Gate hand is determined from the outside (the side you face when approaching to open). If the hinges are on your left as you face the gate, it is a left-hand gate. If hinges are on your right, it is a right-hand gate. The BL2615 is non-handed - select the supplied faceplate that corresponds to your gate hand, attach it to the lock body, and install. Code Change and PIN Management
With the gate open: enter the current code, insert the code change key into the * button hole and hold it down, press C to clear the existing code, enter the new code, release the code change key, press C to set the new code. Test the new code five times before closing the gate. If a mistake is made while entering the new code (with the key still pressed in), press C to cancel and re-enter just the new code digits without releasing the key. Over 4,000 user-defined code combinations from the coding chamber buttons. Non-sequential means the lock reads which buttons are pressed, not the order they are pressed in - so if your code is 1-3-5, pressing 5-1-3 or 3-5-1 will also open the lock. This is a feature of the Borg coding chamber, not a security concern - it is stated on the technical data sheet and is consistent across the BL2000, BL2500, BL2600 ECP series. When setting a code, choose digits that are not guessable and not obvious from wear patterns on the buttons.
No. The BL2615 stores one active PIN code at a time. If per-user access management is needed - for example rotating codes for different personnel - the code must be changed manually using ECP whenever access changes. Multiple simultaneous PIN codes are a feature of electronic smart lock platforms, not mechanical digital locks.
Once inserted into the code change hole in the * button, it physically blocks the ECP code change procedure from being initiated. Only someone who removes the plug first can change the code - useful in port, marina, or managed-access environments where code control must be restricted to administrators. The plug is removable without tools when access reinstatement is needed.
Marine Grade and Corrosion Resistance
MG Pro 2 is Borg's designation for their purpose-built marine external coating - a black polymer/epoxy coating tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray exposure. The internal components are 316 stainless steel, chemically treated for extra strength. The coding chamber is specifically designed to resist saltwater ingress. ISPS (International Ship and Port Security Code) is an international framework managed by the IMO setting security requirements for ships and port facilities. ISPS compliance for a lock means it meets the access control hardware specifications recognised under the ISPS framework, making it suitable for use in ISPS-certified port and marine facility security installations. This is relevant for marinas, port perimeter gates, commercial vessel access, and other marine-industry applications where an ISPS-compliant access control specification is required.
Weekly: clean the keypad and deadbolt surfaces with marine-grade chrome polish; spray exposed bolt parts with WD40 or equivalent and remove excess. Annually: remove the lock from the gate; spray the inside thoroughly with WD40 through the button holes; spray all fixings and the deadbolt; press each button and operate the deadbolt to confirm smooth operation. This WD40 regime is specified in the Borg MG Pro series instructions as the correct maintenance procedure for the marine-grade finish - standard advice to avoid oil-based lubricants does not apply to the MG Pro coating. Installation, Thickness and Gate Suitability
35mm to 85mm. This is a notably wide range - it covers most standard aluminium gate sections (typically 35-65mm) through to heavy-duty fabricated gate frames. Measure the gate frame section at the point where the lock will be fitted before ordering.
The BL2615 is a deadbolt with no spring latch or auto-latch function. A pool gate under Queensland pool safety legislation (Building Act 1975) must be self-latching - the gate must latch closed on its own when released. The BL2615 does not latch on close, so it does not meet this requirement on its own. The BL2605 MG Pro ECP has a vertical rim-fixed deadbolt (22mm throw, manual throw required from inside knob, hinged gates and doors). The BL2621 MG Pro ECP is a back-to-back keypad with a 60mm tubular latch (keypads both sides, spring latch, holdback). The BL3430 MG Pro ECP is a forend-fixed gate lock with back-to-back keypads and a spring latch (auto-latches on close). The BL2615 is unique in its horizontal bolt and non-handed design, specifically suited to applications where gate height is limited or where a horizontal mounting profile is the specification. Mechanical Digital Identity - No Batteries, No App
Electronic smart locks in saltwater and marine environments are particularly vulnerable to premature failure - water ingress through USB ports, battery contact corrosion, PCB failure from humidity, and keypad seal degradation are all recurring failure modes. The BL2615 has no electronics of any kind. No power, no app, no connectivity, no failure modes associated with those systems. Single PIN code only - no per-user codes or access schedules. No key override - if you need mechanical key backup, there is no key override version of the BL2615. No audit trail or remote management. Gate does not auto-lock on close - someone must physically throw the bolt each time. Not suitable as the sole mechanism on pool gates requiring self-latching compliance. How to Make a Claim

- Have your proof of purchase ready (receipt or order confirmation).
- Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor. Where an item is returned to LSC, freight charges must be prepaid and the item returned within the warranty period.
- If LSC finds the returned item to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced, and a detailed assessment report is provided to the customer after examination.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
