Carbine CDL7100SC-HD Mechanical Digital Lock - Heavy Duty Knob / BCA Lever
The Carbine CDL7100SC-HD is a mechanical digital lockset from the Carbine CDL7 Heavy Duty series. It features a large easy-grip knob on the external face and a BCA-compliant lever handle on the internal face. No batteries, electronics, or connectivity are required - the lock is operated entirely by mechanical push-button code entry. Code entry is via ball bearing-style push buttons on the front face, with the code set via slider switches on the rear of the pad after removing the back cover.
The CDL7100SC-HD is the heavy duty upgrade of the standard CDL7100, featuring stainless steel cryptographic elements (rather than zinc), harder-wearing internal code components, and a cycle test result exceeding 100,000 openings - making it suitable for high-volume commercial applications including storerooms, key cabinets, plant rooms, and busy retail stockrooms. It is weather resistant with a 240-hour salt spray test result (C7 High) per AS4145.2-2008.
The lock is fire rated to -/120/30 under AS1530.4:2014 and AS1905.1:2015 when installed with the supplied latchset on both Firecore and E-Core fire-rated doorsets. The lock body is 58.75mm wide, covering standard NK2000 and Lockwood 530 fixing holes, making it a direct retrofit in most Australian commercial installations. Two backset options are available: 60mm (standard, supplied) and 70mm (available separately).
The CDL7100SC-HD exceeds 100,000 cycle openings and is designed for high-volume commercial environments including storerooms, retail, education, and industrial applications. This is not a light residential product.
The CDL7100SC-HD is certified for use on fire-rated doorsets achieving a fire resistance level (FRL) of -/120/30 when installed with the supplied latchset. Certified for Firecore (Warringtonfire FAS220387) and E-Core (Warringtonfire FAS220275 and CSIRO COA 2374) door systems. Fire door compliance guide → • Fire rating certificates for all products →
Salt spray tested to 240 hours per AS4145.2-2008, achieving a corrosion resistance rating of C7 (High). Suitable for moderate/tropical and industrial/marine environments from approximately 100m to 10km inland. Finish degradation is excluded from warranty. Site conditions vary - confirm suitability for your specific installation location. Carbine salt spray testing information (PDF) →
The internal lever handle complies with BCA accessibility requirements. The clearance between the lever handle and the back plate or door face at the centre grip section is not less than 35mm and not more than 45mm, meeting the operational requirement of AS1428.1.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CDL7100SC-HD suitable for fire-rated doors?
Yes, when installed with the supplied latchset on a Firecore or E-Core fire-rated doorset. The lock achieves a fire resistance level of -/120/30 under AS1530.4:2014 and AS1905.1:2015. All other hardware in the assembly - hinges, seals, and closers - must also be fire rated for the specific door system. Fire door types and smart lock certification guide →
How do I change the code?
Remove the rear cover of the lock body (requires no tools on the HD series - the back cover lifts off). The code is set using slider switches on the rear of the pad. Slide each switch to expose the red indicator to include that digit in the code. Replace the cover when done. The factory default code is C13579 and must be changed before installation.
Can this lock be used on a 70mm backset door?
Yes. Order item code CDL710070SCHD for the 70mm backset version. The 127mm backset is also available - contact us for that option. How to measure your lock backset →
What is the difference between the CDL7100SC-HD and the CDL7100-HBSC-HD?
The CDL7100-HBSC-HD adds a holdback function to the internal lever handle. This allows the latch to be retracted and held in the open position - useful for periods when free passage is required without code entry. The standard CDL7100SC-HD does not include this function. See the CDL7100-HBSC-HD product page for details.
Is the CDL7100SC-HD weatherproof enough for an exposed external door near the coast?
The lock achieves 240-hour salt spray (C7 High) which indicates suitability for moderate/tropical and industrial/marine environments approximately 100m to 10km from the coast under AS4145.2-2008. However, Carbine note that exact site performance cannot be guaranteed without knowing the specific installation conditions. Finish degradation from salt or chemical exposure is excluded from warranty. For heavily exposed coastal installations, confirm suitability before specifying.
Additional Information
The factory default code is C13579. This must be changed before the lock is installed. Test the lock function - including the new code - with the door open before closing it to avoid lockout. After the clear (C) button is pressed, digits can be entered in any order; any combination containing the set digits will unlock the lock.
Fire rating applies only when installed with the supplied 60mm tubular latch on a tested Firecore or E-Core doorset. All hardware in the assembly must be independently fire rated. Apartment fire doors on the Gold Coast - what is actually compliant →
A 240-hour laboratory salt spray test is not equivalent to 240 hours of coastal exposure. The test applies a continuous direct salt spray in a closed booth - a far more aggressive environment than an installed lockset experiences in the field. The C7 rating indicates suitability under Australian Standard categories C2.3 (moderate/tropical) and C2.4 (industrial/marine, 100m-10km from coast). Finish degradation is excluded from warranty regardless of rating.
The CDL7100SC-HD body footprint is 58.75mm wide and is designed to cover the fixing hole pattern of the Carbine NK2000 and Lockwood 530 digital locksets. Confirm the existing fixing hole pattern against the supplied template before committing to retrofitting without a scar plate. Measuring your door before ordering →
