Carbine CDL7100-HBSC-HD Mechanical Digital Lock - Heavy Duty Knob / BCA Lever with Holdback
The Carbine CDL7100-HBSC-HD is the holdback variant of the CDL7100 Heavy Duty mechanical digital lockset. It shares all the specifications and certifications of the CDL7100SC-HD but adds a holdback function on the internal lever handle. When the holdback button is depressed, the latch retracts and remains held back until deliberately released - allowing free passage through the door without requiring code entry. This function is operated from the internal (secure) side only.
Like the standard CDL7100SC-HD, this model features stainless steel cryptographic elements, exceeds 100,000 cycle openings, is fire rated -/120/30 with the supplied latchset on Firecore and E-Core doorsets, and is salt spray tested to 240 hours (C7 High). The external face uses a large easy-grip knob and ball bearing-style push buttons. Code change is via slider switches on the rear of the pad.
The holdback function makes this model well suited to commercial environments where a door needs to be held open for periods of high throughput - such as loading docks, reception entries, or staff access doors - while retaining the security of digital code control for other times. The lock body is 58.75mm wide, covering standard NK2000 and Lockwood 530 retrofit holes.
The CDL7100-HBSC-HD exceeds 100,000 cycle openings. Suitable for high-volume commercial installations including retail, industrial, education, and institutional doors.
The holdback function allows the internal lever to retract the latch bolt and hold it in the retracted position, enabling free passage without code entry. The holdback is operated from the internal (secure) face only. Release the holdback to return to normal code-controlled operation. This function is not present on the standard CDL7100SC-HD model.
Certified for Firecore (Warringtonfire FAS220387) and E-Core (Warringtonfire FAS220275 and CSIRO COA 2374) fire-rated doorsets. FRL: -/120/30 with supplied latchset. Fire door compliance guide → • Fire rating certificates →
Salt spray tested to 240 hours per AS4145.2-2008. Rated C7 (High). Suitable for moderate/tropical and industrial/marine environments approximately 100m-10km inland. Finish degradation is excluded from warranty. Carbine salt spray testing information →

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the holdback function work?
The holdback button is located on the internal (inside) lever handle. Pressing the button while turning the lever retracts the latch and holds it in the retracted position. The door can then open and close freely without the latch engaging the strike. To release the holdback and return to normal operation, operate the internal lever again. The holdback can only be engaged from the internal face.
Is the holdback function suitable for use on fire doors?
This requires careful consideration. A fire door must be able to latch and hold closed in a fire event. Engaging the holdback on a fire door so it cannot latch would compromise this function. If you need to hold a fire door open, a fire-rated door retainer or electromagnetic hold-open device designed for that purpose should be used instead. Confirm requirements with your building certifier before specifying the holdback function on any fire door installation. Fire door compliance guide →
What is the difference between CDL7100-HBSC-HD and CDL7100SC-HD?
The only difference is the internal lever handle. The CDL7100-HBSC-HD includes a holdback button that can retract and hold the latch open. The CDL7100SC-HD does not have this function. All other specs, fire ratings, and certifications are identical. See the CDL7100SC-HD product page.
Is the 70mm backset available for this model?
The SKU as listed is 60mm only (CDL7100-HBSC-HD). Contact us to confirm availability of 70mm or 127mm backset options for this specific variant.
Is the code change procedure the same as the standard CDL7100?
Yes. The code is changed via slider switches on the rear of the pad after removing the back cover. The factory default code is C13579 and must be changed before installation. Test the code and lock function with the door open before closing.
Additional Information
If this lock is installed on a fire door, the holdback function should not be used to prop the door open. A fire door must be able to latch closed automatically to achieve its rated performance. Consult with your building certifier or fire engineer before specifying a holdback function on any fire-rated opening. Apartment fire doors - what is compliant →
The factory default code C13579 must be changed and tested before fitting. Test with the door open. After the clear (C) button is pressed, digits can be entered in any order - any combination containing the set digits unlocks the lock. For higher security, Carbine recommend 4-5 digit codes.
The 58.75mm wide body covers NK2000 and Lockwood 530 fixing holes. Confirm the existing hole pattern against the supplied template before retrofitting. Measuring your door →
