Both lever handles meet AS1428.1 clearance, so this is one of the few keyless mechanical digital locks that satisfies dual-sided accessibility where it is specified - accessible entry doors in aged care, hospitals, medical centres and schools. As part of the CDL7 HD series it runs stainless steel cryptographic elements, exceeds 100,000 tested cycle openings, and is salt spray tested to 240 hours (C7 High). The lock comes in two backsets - 60mm standard (CDL7200LLSCHD) and 70mm (CDL720070LLSCHD) - in satin chrome, reversible for left and right hand doors, and suits doors 32 to 54mm thick. The 59mm-wide body covers the fixing holes of common NK2000 and Lockwood 530 installations, making it a clean retrofit upgrade. One design point to understand before you buy: the external lever carries a security break point - see the caution below.
The external lever features a security break point: it shears off under excessive pull force, which stops the lever being used to force the lock. The trade-off is that the lever must never be used as a pull handle. On heavy doors, or doors with strong closers or wind load, fit a separate pull handle rated for the job - or choose the knob-external Carbine CDL7100SC-HD instead. Using the external lever as a pull handle causes premature failure and is not covered by warranty.
Exceeds 100,000 cycle openings with stainless steel cryptographic elements - the HD series runs steel where standard mechanical digital locks run zinc. Salt spray tested to 240 hours per AS4145.2-2008 and rated C7 (High) - suited to moderate, tropical and industrial or marine environments 100m to 10km from the coast. Finish degradation from salt and weather exposure is excluded from warranty, so on coastal sites plan on wiping the finish down regularly. Both lever handles meet BCA accessibility clearance (35-45mm grip clearance per AS1428.1) on the external and internal faces. The internal lever operates the latch freely regardless of code state, so exit is always single-action - part of what makes this model workable on accessible and egress doors.

Code Control and the Clutching Lever
Entry works through the external keypad only. With no valid code entered, the external lever clutches - it turns freely without moving the latch. Enter the correct code and the lever engages the latch for one operation, letting the door open. The internal lever is different: it always drives the latch, so exit from inside never needs a code. That is the single most important behaviour to understand on this model, and it is why it suits fire and egress doors where the dual-keypad KDSC does not.
Changing the code is a straightforward bench task: slide code-select switches at the rear of the external assembly are set to the new combination, and the CLEAR (C) button must always be pressed before a new code is entered. The factory default is C13579 and must be changed - and tested with the door open - before the door is closed on it. Carbine recommend 4-5 digit codes for higher security. On a gate, weigh two things: the external lever's break point means it must not be pulled hard (fit a separate pull handle where the gate is heavy or spring-loaded), and the pool barrier itself must still self-close and self-latch to meet barrier rules - the lock provides code control, it never substitutes for the barrier's own compliance. Fire Rating - When and How It Applies
Unlike the dual-keypad KDSC, this single-keypad model is suitable for fire and egress doors: the internal lever always operates freely, so occupants can exit without a code - the single-action egress that fire-rated doors require. It achieves FRL -/120/30 with the supplied 60mm tubular latchset on a tested Firecore or E-Core doorset.
Two conditions matter. First, the fire rating applies only with the supplied latchset on a genuinely tested doorset - all other assembly hardware (closer, hinges, seals) must be independently fire rated too. Second, the certification is doorset-specific: Warringtonfire assess the CDL7100 and CDL7200 at -/120/30, 60mm backset, on E-core doorsets in report FAS220275 (Table 10, page 14) and on Firecore doorsets in report FAS220387 (Table 9, page 10) - and the two are not interchangeable across core types.

External lever and pull force: The security break point is a safety and anti-tamper feature, not a defect. On heavy doors - external gates, heavy fire doors, doors with strong closers - calculate the pull force required to open the door before specifying this model. If a pull handle is needed, install a separate one; the CDL7100SC-HD (knob external) is the alternative where a pull handle is not wanted.

Retrofitting older locks: The 59mm body width covers the fixing holes of NK2000 and Lockwood 530 installations, so most swaps need no door patching. Salt spray rating context: The 240-hour C7 rating is a laboratory result. Real-world coastal performance depends on site exposure, wind direction, proximity to water, and local conditions. Finish degradation is excluded from warranty regardless of corrosion rating - a regular freshwater wipe-down keeps the satin chrome presentable; the mechanism itself stays covered for the full 10 years.
Warranty
Carbine is a Davcor Group brand, and Davcor backs its mechanical digital locks with one of the longest warranties in the category: 10 years against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of original purchase. There are no electronics or batteries in this lock to shorten the cover - the whole product is warranted for the full term.
On a valid claim, Davcor will repair the lock, replace it, or supply an equivalent product. Keep your proof of purchase, and make the claim as soon as a defect becomes apparent.
What the warranty does not cover: fair wear and tear; damage caused by faulty installation, misuse, or modification of the product; and tarnishing or change to the finish from weather, salt, or chemical exposure. On coastal and exposed sites, regular cleaning of the finish is the practical answer - the lock mechanism itself remains covered.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. The dual-keypad CDL7200LL-KDSC-HD needs a code to exit, so it cannot go on those doors even though the lock body carries the same assessment. Fire rating here is -/120/30 with the supplied latchset on a tested Firecore or E-Core doorset.
The code lives in mechanical slide switches behind the external pad, so it can only be read or reset with the lock accessible - normally with the door open. Since the inside lever is always free, you can still get out; getting back in without the code is a locksmith visit. Record the code somewhere secure the day it is set.
The rear slider switches let you re-code without disassembling the lock body, which is quicker than the fully-stripped procedure on some brands. Comfortable with tools, it is a routine job; first time through, allow longer and follow the figures in the installation instructions (PDF). A competent DIYer with the right tools can: the instructions call for a chisel, a 25mm spade bit, a 10mm drill bit, and a Phillips head screwdriver, and the box includes the drilling template. The bevelled latch bolt must face the direction the door shuts - the instructions (PDF) diagram it. Important: if the door is a fire door, installation must not compromise the fire-rated doorset - that is a job for a competent installer. How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd (the place of purchase) in writing as soon as the defect becomes apparent - and no later than 14 days after the end of the applicable warranty period.
- Include in your written claim: a description of the defect, the date of supply, your contact details, and satisfactory proof of purchase.
- Do not return the product until a return authorisation number has been issued by Davcor. If return is required, the product must be in its original, complete, and saleable packaging.
- Davcor will test and assess the product. No claim is valid unless Davcor has confirmed a defect is present.
- Once a valid claim is confirmed, Davcor will - at its discretion - repair the defect, replace the product, or supply an equivalent product. If repair or replacement cannot be completed within a reasonable time, you may request a full refund, provided the product has been returned.
Delivery inspection: If you believe a product is defective or incorrectly supplied at the time of delivery, telephone notice must be given within 72 hours of receipt, with written notice (including full particulars) within 14 days of the invoice date.
