Carbine CDL7200LL-HD Mechanical Digital Lock - Heavy Duty Dual BCA Lever
The Carbine CDL7200LL-HD is a mechanical digital lockset with a BCA-compliant lever handle on both faces of the door. Both levers comply with AS1428.1 clearance requirements, making it one of the few keyless mechanical digital locks suitable where full dual-sided accessibility compliance is specified. Code entry is via ball bearing-style push buttons on the external pad, with code change via slider switches on the rear.
As part of the CDL7 Heavy Duty series, the CDL7200LL-HD features stainless steel cryptographic elements (not zinc), harder-wearing internal code components, and exceeds 100,000 cycle openings, making it suited to high-volume commercial applications. It is fire rated to -/120/30 with the supplied latchset on Firecore and E-Core doorsets, and salt spray tested to 240 hours (C7 High).
Two backset options are available: 60mm (standard, item code CDL7200LLSCHD) and 70mm (item code CDL720070LLSCHD). The lock body is 59mm wide, covering NK2000 and Lockwood 530 retrofit holes. Note that the external lever features a security break point - see the caution below before specifying on heavy doors requiring a pull handle.
The external lever on the CDL7200LL-HD features a security break point: the lever will shear off under excessive pull force, preventing forced entry. Because of this, the external lever must not be used as a pull handle. On heavy doors where significant pull force is required to open, install a separate pull handle alongside this lock, or consider the CDL7100SC-HD knob model instead. Using the external lever as a pull handle will cause premature failure and is not covered by warranty.
Exceeds 100,000 cycle openings. Stainless steel cryptographic elements. Suitable for high-volume commercial and institutional applications where dual BCA lever access is required.
Certified for Firecore (Warringtonfire FAS220387) and E-Core (Warringtonfire FAS220275) fire-rated doorsets. FRL: -/120/30 with supplied latchset. Fire door compliance guide → • Fire rating certificates →
240-hour salt spray tested per AS4145.2-2008. Rated C7 (High). Suitable for moderate/tropical and industrial/marine environments 100m-10km from coast. Finish degradation excluded from warranty. Salt spray testing information →
Both the external and internal lever handles comply with BCA accessibility requirements. Grip clearance at the centre section is 35-45mm on both faces, meeting AS1428.1. The clutching external lever disengages when no valid code has been entered.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't the external lever be used as a pull handle?
The external lever incorporates a security break point - a deliberate design feature that causes the lever to shear off if excessive pull or torque force is applied. This prevents the lever from being used to force the lock open. If a heavy door requires significant pull force to open, install a separate pull handle rated for that purpose alongside the lock. Contact us for advice on compatible pull handles.
How does the clutching lever work?
When no valid code has been entered, the external lever rotates freely without engaging the latch mechanism. After a correct code is entered, the lever engages the latch for one operation, allowing the door to open. The internal lever always operates the latch freely regardless of code state.
Is the CDL7200LL-HD suitable for fire doors?
Yes, when installed with the supplied latchset on a tested Firecore or E-Core doorset, achieving FRL -/120/30. All other assembly hardware must also be fire rated. Fire door types and lock certification guide →
Can I get this lock with a keypad on both sides?
Yes - the CDL7200LL-KDSC-HD provides a keypad on both the external and internal faces, allowing code entry from either side of the door.
Does the CDL7200 come in 70mm backset?
Yes. Order CDL720070LLSCHD for the 70mm backset version. How to measure your lock backset →
Additional Information
The security break point on the external lever is a safety and anti-tamper feature, not a defect. On heavy doors - particularly external gates, heavy fire doors, or doors with strong closers - calculate the pull force required to open the door before specifying this model. If a pull handle is needed, a separate pull handle must be installed. The CDL7100SC-HD (knob external) is an alternative where pull handles are not required.
Fire rating applies only with the supplied 60mm tubular latch on a tested Firecore or E-Core doorset. All hardware must be independently rated. Apartment fire doors on the Gold Coast - compliance →
Factory default code C13579 must be changed and tested before installation. Test with the door open. Carbine recommend 4-5 digit codes for higher security.
The 240-hour C7 rating is a laboratory test result. Real-world coastal performance depends on exact site exposure, wind direction, proximity to water, and local conditions. Finish degradation is excluded from warranty regardless of corrosion rating. Confirm suitability with your installer for heavily exposed sites.
