FORGE Fire Rated Commercial Smart Lock - FRL 90, DDA Lever, TTLock
At A Glance
(G5 Gateway)
The FORGE Fire Rated Commercial Smart Lock is a stainless steel lever lock on a commercial mortice for apartment entries, offices and multi-residential buildings. FORGE states an FRL 90 fire resistance level, tested to AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 1905.1:2015/A1:2016, and a DDA-approved lever handle.
Entry is by fingerprint, PIN, card, the TTLock app or a key in an Australian oval cylinder, with up to 1,000 cards for large user lists. It runs on TTLock over Bluetooth, with the optional FORGE TTLock G5 gateway for remote unlock, doorbell notifications and a schedulable passage mode. It suits timber and aluminium doors 40-50 mm thick on a 60 mm backset mortice, and 4 x AAA batteries run it for about 10-12 months.
Item code FECMLKH1A. It is made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, and carries FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
Inside, the privacy thumb turn blocks code, fingerprint and card entry from outside; the key still works.

TTLock App
Set the lock up in the free TTLock app, available for iOS and Android ![]()
. Choose Australia as your location when you sign up, give the app full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. Until the first administrator is added the lock is in its factory state - the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open it - so pair it as soon as it is fitted. FORGE's TTLock pairing guide shows the steps; keep your phone within 2 metres while pairing. The introduction pages of the manual cover the same ground for this model.
TTLock is one of the two global smart lock platforms - how it compares with Tuya is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison, and the wider TTLock range in Chapter 14 - the TTLock hardware ecosystem. The app itself is covered in the TTLock app user manual. For commercial and multi-residential sites see which smart lock platform suits commercial use.
Without a gateway the FECMLKH1A is managed over Bluetooth when your phone is within about 5-10 metres - see what a TTLock lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway as the add-on for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking: with it plugged in within range you can unlock on demand from anywhere, change codes, check records and set a passage-mode schedule remotely - Bluetooth vs gateway in Chapter 14. Remote Unlock has to be switched on in the app and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 20).

Suitable Uses
- Apartment entry doors, offices, common areas and other commercial or multi-residential doors 40-50 mm thick.
- Compatible fire-rated door assemblies where FORGE's FRL 90 statement meets the project's requirements - confirmed by the door certifier.
- Accessible entries that call for a DDA-approved lever.
- Buildings with large user lists - up to 1,000 cards - and managers who want TTLock's scheduling and remote access (commercial platforms in our guide).
- Doors thinner than 40 mm or thicker than 50 mm.
- Exposed outdoor doors - the outside handle is rated IPX5 and has no dust rating.
- Fire doors where the approved assembly does not list this lock - fire resistance depends on the complete door assembly.
- Doors with a tubular latch bore - choose the FORGE H6 for those.

Door Fit, Commercial Mortice
The lock uses FORGE's commercial mortice with a reversible latch on a 60 mm backset, for doors 40-50 mm thick. FORGE's installation template gives every cut-out at full size; the mortice case itself is 120 mm tall and 83.9 mm deep behind its faceplate (manual page 2; measuring door thickness).
- Door thickness - 40-50 mm, timber or aluminium.
- Backset - 60 mm from the door edge to the centre of the lock (FORGE's template). FORGE offers no other backset.
- Mortice pocket - 130 x 20 mm, 92 mm deep, behind a faceplate recess 175.5 x 25.5 mm, 4 mm deep.
- Through the door - a 35 mm spindle hole, a 30 mm-wide slot above it for the oval cylinder and the data cable, and a 12 mm connection-screw hole below.
- Frame - a strike box pocket 35.5 x 26.5 mm, 16 mm deep, inside a latch plate recess 70.4 x 29 mm, 3 mm deep.
- Before ordering - confirm the door construction, its fire-door approval, the thickness, the mortice preparation, the handing and the clearances (FORGE's checklist). Send us photos and we will check it with you.

Fire Rating and DDA
FORGE states that this lock provides an FRL 90 fire resistance level for compatible fire-rated door applications, with fire-rating standards AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 1905.1:2015/A1:2016, and that its stainless steel lever handle is DDA-approved for accessible operation.
As FORGE notes, fire resistance depends on the complete approved door assembly - the door, the frame, the hardware and how it is installed. Confirm your project's requirements and that the lock is compatible with the approved door before installation, and ask us for FORGE's fire-test documentation before you specify it.

FORGE Lever Handle Smart Locks
This product is in bold. All three run on TTLock over Bluetooth with the optional G5 gateway for remote access. Capacities: the H6 stores up to 200 fingerprints, 150 passcodes and 200 cards; the H4 100, 150 and 200; the fire-rated lever 100, 250 and 1,000.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE also lists its DB2 video doorbell, which has a gateway built in, for remote control of this lock - ask us if you want one. Other gateways are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The lock runs on 4 x AAA alkaline batteries - FORGE rates them at about 6,000 unlocks or 10-12 months, depending on use. Use alkaline cells only; the manual rules out rechargeable NiMH and lithium-ion (manual page 12). A low-battery alert warns you with roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left. If they do go flat, the oval-cylinder key still opens the door, and a power bank on the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable powers the lock temporarily (manual page 23). More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.
Weather Rating - IPX5 Outside Handle
FORGE rates the outside handle IPX5 - protected against water jets, with no dust rating - and specifies it for commercial buildings, apartments and offices. Fit it to internal or sheltered doors, not to doors that take the weather; its working range is -20 to 50 degrees C. See IP ratings explained.

Dimensions
Check the door thickness (40-50 mm) and the cut-outs on FORGE's template before ordering.
Platform and Data
Platform. The FECMLKH1A runs on TTLock - Bluetooth to your phone, with the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access. FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a gateway built in.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company. Accounts outside China use TTLock's out-of-China servers; where that infrastructure is hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record see Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
The lock fits a commercial mortice into the door edge, an oval cylinder through it, and clamps the outside handle and the inside backplate and handle together through the door. FORGE's template gives the cut-outs, and the installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Cut the door from FORGE's template - the mortice pocket, the faceplate recess, the spindle hole, the cylinder and cable slot and the connection-screw hole (manual page 6).
- Set the handing first: pull the handle release switch down and rotate each lever to point towards the hinge (manual page 7).
- If needed, remove the faceplate screws and turn the latch 180 degrees, then fit the mortice. Fit the oval cylinder with a fixing pin, then the cam with the second pin, and refit the faceplate (manual page 8 and manual page 9).
- Fit the spindle with its hole aligned to the hub and secure it with the cotter pin, then pass the outside handle and data cable through the door (manual page 10).
- Fix the inside backplate with the M5 x 30 connection screws, connect the data cable, fit the inside handle with the M5 x 18 screws, and fit 4 x AAA alkaline batteries (manual page 11).
- Check the outside handle stays locked, the key unlocks, 123456# plus the handle unlocks, and the privacy thumb turn blocks 123456# but not the key - with the keys outside the room (manual page 13). Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.

Frequently Asked Questions
FORGE states an FRL 90 fire resistance level, with standards AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 1905.1:2015/A1:2016. Fire resistance depends on the complete approved door assembly, so confirm with the door's certifier before you install it, and ask us for FORGE's documentation.
FORGE describes the stainless steel lever as DDA-approved for accessible operation in compatible applications.
It is a privacy lock: turned, it stops code, fingerprint and card entry from outside. The key still opens the door (manual page 21).
With the G5 gateway fitted, a press sends a notification to the TTLock app and the administrator can unlock remotely (manual page 21).
Timber and aluminium doors 40-50 mm thick, with FORGE's commercial mortice on a 60 mm backset.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added, the default code is 123456# and the lock is in its factory state. A factory reset puts it back into that state.
- Fire rating is a door-assembly matter. Confirm the approved door, frame and hardware with your certifier before installation.
- The privacy turn does not stop the key. Anyone with a key can still open the door when it is on.
- Alkaline batteries only. Fit four AAA alkaline cells; the manual rules out rechargeable ones.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door so they are there if the batteries fail (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. FORGE Fire Rated Commercial Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE FECMLKH1A. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Lever Lock
It is the commercial lock of the three: FRL 90 and a DDA lever per FORGE, a commercial mortice on a 60 mm backset, 1,000 cards and an oval cylinder, for 40-50 mm doors. The H6 is a tubular latch lock for a 54 mm bore; the H4 a mortice lever with IP65 on the outside handle.
Fire Rating and DDA
AS 1530.4:2014 and AS 1905.1:2015/A1:2016, for an FRL 90 fire resistance level.
No - fire resistance depends on the complete approved door assembly: the door, frame, hardware and installation method. Confirm with the certifier that this lock suits your approved door.
Door Fit and Mortice
60 mm, on FORGE's commercial mortice - FORGE offers no other backset.
130 x 20 mm and 92 mm deep, behind a 175.5 x 25.5 mm faceplate recess 4 mm deep (FORGE's template).
A 51 mm Australian oval cylinder, supplied with the lock along with its cam and fixing pins.
Credentials and Access
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited, one-time (it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent and recurring. Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them. Codes are generated by the app and can be customised afterwards, 4 to 9 digits (manual page 16; Chapter 14 - passcode types).
MIFARE M1 cards - up to 1,000. Two come in the box, and extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
An eKey gives another TTLock account the right to unlock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring - with options for remote unlock, an unlock link that works without the app, or near-administrator rights (TTLock eKeys).
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds. The keypad goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway to unlock on demand, change codes or check records from away from home - what a gateway actually does and the G5 explained.
Plug it in indoors within Bluetooth range of the lock, on a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network - the closer the better, with as few walls as possible in between. If the lock keeps dropping off, see the real fixes for Wi-Fi dropouts and gateway placement.
Remote Unlock must be switched on for the lock in the app, and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 20). Check that the gateway shows the lock in range.
Yes - FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock Bluetooth remote as an add-on for the FECMLKH1A. It unlocks at close range without the app or a code.
Power and Batteries
FORGE rates the 4 x AAA alkaline batteries at about 6,000 unlocks or 10-12 months, depending on use.
Use the oval-cylinder key, or connect a power bank to the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable to power the lock temporarily (manual page 23).
Installation and Troubleshooting
Pull each handle's release switch down and rotate the lever towards the hinge (manual page 7).
Remove the battery covers, hold the reset button until prompted, then enter 000# (manual page 22).
