FORGE HV3 Slimline Sliding Door Smart Lock - Aluminium Frame, TTLock
At A Glance
(G5 Gateway)
The FORGE HV3 Slimline Sliding Door Smart Lock (FEUTSLMH3A) is a 37 mm-wide smart lock with short vertical grip handles, made for narrow aluminium-frame and glass doors - above all sliding doors, where a lever would foul the fixed panel. Unlock with a fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, the TTLock app or a mechanical key.
Choose your mortice backset at checkout: FORGE sells the HV3 with sliding-door mortices of 20, 28 or 35 mm and swing-door mortices of 25 to 60 mm, so it also suits pivot and hinged doors. It talks Bluetooth to the TTLock app, with FORGE's optional G5 gateway for remote unlock, runs on 4 x AAA batteries and has an IP65 outside handle with a USB-C emergency port.
Its hinged-door sibling with lever handles is the FORGE HL3. Made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, with FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
From the inside, rotate the inside grip. The internal deadlock switch, when set to Locked, lets only the administrator and the mechanical key open the door from outside.

TTLock App
Set the lock up in the free TTLock app, available for iOS and Android ![]()
. Choose Australia as your location when you sign up, give the app full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. Until the first administrator is added the lock is in its factory state - the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open it - so pair it as soon as it is fitted. FORGE's TTLock pairing guide shows the steps; keep your phone within 2 metres while pairing. The introduction pages of the manual cover the same ground for this model.
TTLock is one of the two global smart lock platforms - how it compares with Tuya is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison, and the wider TTLock range in Chapter 14 - the TTLock hardware ecosystem. The app itself is covered in the TTLock app user manual. FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a TTLock gateway built in, as a remote route for the HV3 - ask us if you want one.
Without a gateway the HV3 is managed over Bluetooth when your phone is within about 5-10 metres - see what a TTLock lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway as the add-on for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking: with it plugged in within range you can unlock on demand from anywhere, change codes, check records and set a passage-mode schedule remotely - Bluetooth vs gateway in Chapter 14. Remote Unlock has to be switched on in the app and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18).

Suitable Uses
- Narrow aluminium-frame sliding doors with glass infill (sliding door smart locks).
- Pivot and hinged aluminium doors where a short grip suits better than a lever - with a swing-door mortice.
- Homes, apartments and Airbnb properties wanting fingerprint, code and card entry.
- Offices, retail stores and clinics managing staff access in TTLock with a G5 gateway (audit trails).
- Doors thinner than 40 mm or thicker than 100 mm (FORGE's specification range).
- Frames too shallow for the mortice - check the frame depth against the case depth for your backset below.
- Fully exposed doors - only the outside handle is IP65; FORGE recommends a rain hood where the door takes the weather.
- Fire-rated doors - FORGE does not quote a fire rating for the HV3.

Door Fit, Mortice and Backset
Choose your mortice backset at checkout. FORGE sells the HV3 with a choice of mortice - swing-door backsets of 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 60 mm or sliding-door (hook) backsets of 20, 28 or 35 mm - measured from the edge of the door (or the faceplate) to the centre of the lock. Choose sliding for a sliding door and swing for a hinged or pivot door. How to measure backset.
Case depths are from FORGE's swing-door (240 x 22 mm faceplate) and sliding-door (270 x 22 mm faceplate) mortice size guides below.
- Door stop or jamb overlap - how far the door stop or jamb overlaps the door edge. The handle base must clear it, so the backset has to leave room beside the lock.
- Frame depth - the depth of the door's frame section from its edge to the glass pocket. The mortice case has to fit inside it.
- Flush or surface-mounted faceplate - FORGE's calculator allows for either. A surface-mounted faceplate sits on the door edge instead of being recessed, which saves 2 mm of frame depth.
- Door thickness - 40-100 mm, per FORGE's specifications.
- Handle clearance - the HV3's short vertical grips stand 63 mm proud of the door, keeping clear of the fixed panel on a sliding door.
- Tight fits - where the numbers only just work, FORGE advises getting advice before you buy. Send us your measurements or a photo of the door edge and frame and we will check the backset with you.

FORGE Slimline Aluminium Frame Smart Locks
This product is in bold. All four take a mortice chosen at checkout from FORGE's backset options - check the frame depth and jamb overlap first. Door thickness and backsets are from FORGE's pages; panel widths from FORGE's drawings. The H2 slimline is a different product from FORGE's H2 frameless glass handle lock.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a TTLock gateway built in, as a remote route for this lock - ask us if you want one. Other gateways are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The HV3 runs on 4 x AAA alkaline batteries in the inside handle - FORGE's page rates them at up to about 250 days, depending on how often the door is used. A voice prompt warns you when they are low, with roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left. If they do go flat, connect 5 V power to the USB-C port next to the keyhole with a USB-A to USB-C cable or power bank and unlock normally (manual page 20), or use the mechanical key. More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.

Weather Rating - IP65 Outside Handle
FORGE rates the outside handle IP65 against rain and dust when correctly installed, with a UV-resistant tempered glass keypad and a silicone pad that seals the handle to the door. It is not designed for driving rain, hail, salt spray, flooding or immersion; FORGE recommends a rain hood where the door is exposed, and water damage beyond the rating is not covered by the warranty (non-warranty disclaimer). On the coast, read coastal environments and IP ratings explained.
FORGE HV3 - Technical Specifications
Dimensions
Check the door thickness (40-100 mm), the frame depth and the jamb overlap for your door - see Door Fit above, and stile width in Chapter 02.
Platform and Data
Platform. The HV3 runs on TTLock - Bluetooth to your phone, with the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access. Remote unlock and management need the gateway; at the door the lock works without the internet.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company. Accounts outside China use TTLock's out-of-China servers; where that infrastructure is hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record see Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
The HV3 fits the mortice you choose into the door edge and clamps the outside and inside panels together through the door, with a data cable between them. The installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Cut the door profile to the template, adjusting it for the backset you ordered (manual page 5), and fit the mortice with the latch facing the closing direction - latch on top, deadbolt below (manual page 6).
- Lock the spindle's pin end into the outside hub and cut the spindle to stand 5 mm proud of the inside door face (manual page 7; the spindle mistake in Chapter 12).
- Set the spindle-hub orientation mark on the outside handle horizontal and pointing towards the hinges, and keep the silicone pad even for weather sealing (manual page 8).
- Set the inside handle direction: with long-nose pliers, move the positioner to the L or R mark for the hinge side as seen from outside (manual page 9).
- Fix the inside panel with the two M5 connection screws, connect the data cable and fit the batteries (manual page 10).
- Check it: the grip turned one way stays locked, the other way throws the deadbolt, and the key engages after a quarter turn - with the keys outside (manual page 11). Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door or gate opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is built for sliding doors - the short grips clear the fixed panel - but with a swing-door mortice it also suits pivot and hinged doors. Choose the mortice at checkout.
Measure how far the door stop or jamb overlaps the door and the frame depth to the glass pocket, then match them to the case depths in Door Fit. Send us the measurements and we will confirm the backset before you order.
The HV3 has vertical grips for sliding and pivot doors; the HL3 has lever handles for hinged doors. Both are 37 mm-wide TTLock locks.
Yes, with the optional FORGE TTLock G5 gateway. Without it, the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres.
4 x AAA alkaline batteries - up to about 250 days per FORGE - with a USB-C emergency port and the mechanical key as backups.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added in the app, the lock is in its factory state with the default code 123456.
- Check the frame before choosing a backset. The jamb overlap and the frame depth decide which mortice fits.
- Mind the deadlock switch. With the inside switch set to Locked, standard users cannot open the door from outside - only the administrator and the key.
- Cut the spindle to 5 mm proud. A spindle left too long is the usual reason a slimline lock will not lock.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door - in the house or the car (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. Proof of purchase required for all claims. Returns & Warranty | FORGE warranty terms

FORGE HV3 Slimline Sliding Door Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE HV3. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Slimline Lock
The HV3 has vertical grips for sliding and pivot doors; the HL3 has lever handles for hinged doors - both 37 mm wide on TTLock. The H2 slimline is 30 mm wide with a 30 mm low-profile inside handle and Wi-Fi built in on Forge Smart.
Door Fit and Mortice
Sliding doors: 20, 28 or 35 mm. Swing doors: 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 60 mm. Choose at checkout.
40-100 mm, per FORGE's specifications.
The frame depth to the glass pocket, how far the door stop or jamb overlaps the door, and whether the faceplate will be flush or surface-mounted. FORGE's measurement guide in Door Fit shows where.
The grips stand 63 mm proud of the door - measure the space between the door and the fixed panel or screen where the handles sit.
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited, one-time (it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent and recurring. Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them. Codes are generated by the app and can be customised afterwards, 4 to 9 digits (manual page 14; Chapter 14 - passcode types).
MIFARE 1K cards - up to 200. Two come in the box, and extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
An eKey gives another TTLock account the right to unlock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring - with options for remote unlock, an unlock link that works without the app, or near-administrator rights (TTLock eKeys).
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds. The keypad goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway to unlock on demand, change codes or check records from away from home - what a gateway actually does and the G5 explained.
Plug it in indoors within Bluetooth range of the lock, on a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network - the closer the better, with as few walls as possible in between. If the lock keeps dropping off, see the real fixes for Wi-Fi dropouts and gateway placement.
Remote Unlock must be switched on for the lock in the app, and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18). Check that the gateway shows the lock in range.
Yes - FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock Bluetooth remote as an add-on for the HV3. It unlocks at close range without the app or a code.
Power and Batteries
Up to about 250 days on 4 x AAA alkaline cells, per FORGE, depending on use. A voice prompt warns you when they are low.
Connect 5 V power to the USB-C port next to the keyhole and unlock normally (manual page 20), or use the mechanical key.
Installation and Troubleshooting
Set to Locked, it stops standard users opening the door from outside - only the administrator and the mechanical key can. Take care when closing the door behind you (manual page 20).
Check the spindle stands only 5 mm proud of the inside door face and that the hub orientation mark points towards the hinges (manual page 11).
Press the reset key on the inside panel with a pin until the prompt, then enter 000# (manual page 19).
