FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock - IP66, Fingerprint, TTLock
At A Glance
Not Available
The FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock (FEDLH1; variants FEDLH10D in Black and FEDLH10DS in Silver) is a mortice-format gate lock with fingerprint, PIN and card readers on both sides, so entry and exit are both controlled. An aluminium body, UV-resistant glass keypads and an IP66 rating are matched to Australian sun and rain, and it runs on the TTLock app - the same platform as the McGrath, Lockton and Austyle locks we stock.
It suits gates and doors from 35mm to 100mm thick, with the mortice supplied in your choice of backset from 25mm to 60mm, and opens by fingerprint, PIN code, MIFARE M1 card, the TTLock app over Bluetooth 5.0 or a mechanical key. Up to 100 fingerprints, 250 codes and 1000 cards can be enrolled, and the lock keeps a rolling record of its last 300 operations.
Add the optional FORGE TTLock dual-band Wi-Fi gateway for remote unlocking and cloud records - what a gateway actually does. If you would rather have Wi-Fi in the lock itself and a higher weather rating, Forge's FORGE H100 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock is the step up, on Forge's Tuya-based app rather than TTLock; the single-sided version of this lock is the FORGE H10S Single-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock.
Forge rates the H10D at IP66 - dust-tight and protected against strong water jets - and backs it with internal silicone sealing around the electronics, a waterproof data-cable connection, dedicated rubber seals and a protective metal battery cover. The keypads are UV-resistant glass, chosen for the sun exposure a gate gets that a porch-covered front door does not. IP66 is not a rating for immersion or pressure washing, and it is not a corrosion rating - near the surf, read the realities of electronic locks on the coast. IP ratings explained.
The H10D suits gates and doors 35mm to 100mm thick. Confirm the available mounting area on the stile, any existing cut-outs, the opening direction and the installation clearances before ordering, then choose the mortice backset - 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 60mm - to suit the frame (how to measure backset). The latch projects 12mm, so a closed gate-to-post gap of 10mm or less is recommended. Measure the stile, not the post - why that matters - and send us photos if you are unsure (contact us).
Access Methods and Smart Features
Fingerprint, PIN and card readers are fitted to both panels. Remote unlocking and cloud records require the FORGE TTLock Wi-Fi gateway (sold separately).

TTLock App
The H10D is managed through the TTLock app, available for iOS and Android. ![]()
It is the same platform behind the McGrath, Lockton and Austyle locks we stock, so it joins an existing TTLock account. Over Bluetooth 5.0 you add and remove users, issue eKeys and passcodes, enrol fingerprints and cards, and read the operation log at the gate. TTLock tips and tricks and the Chapter 14 platform guide cover the app in depth.
FORGE Electrical is an Australian-owned company based in Melbourne, and Terry's handles warranty and support for the FORGE locks we sell. The TTLock app and its cloud service are run by TTLock, a globally deployed IoT platform used by many lock brands. What TTLock is, where your data goes and the platform's published security record are set out honestly in our guides. Forge's gate locks on its own Tuya-based app (the H100) are a different platform - how the two compare.
Wi-Fi Remote Access (Optional Gateway)
On its own the H10D is a Bluetooth lock - your phone has to be at the gate. Add the FORGE TTLock Bluetooth to Wi-Fi Gateway (dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz, sold separately) and the lock joins your home network: unlock from anywhere, issue and cancel codes remotely, and have every entry synchronised to the cloud log. Forge's gateway is a G5-type dual-band unit, which sidesteps the band-steering problem that catches 2.4GHz-only gateways. Chapter 08 explains where to place a gateway - at a gate that is usually inside the nearest wall, within Bluetooth range - and what still works when the internet drops. The G2 to G5 comparison helps you decide whether you need one at all; browse every gateway and bridge we stock.
FORGE Outdoor Gate Locks - Range Comparison
All are mortice-format gate locks with fingerprint, PIN, card and key. The H10S is this lock with readers on the outside only; the H1S is the closest sibling in the TTLock range; the H100 steps up to IP68 and built-in Wi-Fi on Forge's Tuya-based app. Forge's surface-mounted alternative is the FORGE RD1T Outdoor Smart Rim Lock. For a TTLock gate lock from another brand, see the McGrath ASCOT Double-Sided Smart Gate Lock.

FORGE H10D - Technical Specifications
Battery, Power and Backup Access
The H10D runs on a rechargeable lithium battery supplied in the box, which Forge rates for at least 3,000 unlocks - how long that lasts depends on how busy the gate is, and this guide to real-world battery life explains what else moves the figure. Recharge it when the app or the lock warns of low battery. If it goes flat, hold a power bank to the 5V / 1A USB Type-C port on the exterior panel and unlock as normal, or use one of the two mechanical keys - what to do when a smart lock battery dies. General power and battery FAQs are in Chapter 13.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, unless you set the inside differently - the H10D has fingerprint, PIN and card readers on both panels. That is the point of a double-sided gate lock on a shared or commercial entrance. If you only want control on the way in, the FORGE H10S Single-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock is the same lock with readers on the outside only.
Only to unlock or manage the lock when you are not at the gate. Over Bluetooth the TTLock app does everything locally - users, codes, fingerprints, cards and the log. The FORGE TTLock gateway adds remote unlocking, remote code changes and a cloud-synchronised log; Chapter 14 sets out exactly what changes with a gateway.
Gates and doors 35mm to 100mm thick. Backset - the distance from the gate edge to the centre of the lock - is dictated by the stile on a narrow frame and is your choice on a wide one; Forge supplies 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60mm. How to measure backset, and what to check on a gate before you order.
No. Both variants are the same lock, chosen at checkout. Forge suggests silver for silver, white and light-coloured gates and black for dark frames - that is the whole decision.
Yes - IP66 with sealed internals, and glass keypads chosen for UV exposure. It is not a rating for immersion or pressure washing, and near the surf salt air is the real enemy - rinse with fresh water occasionally and keep the seals seated. IP ratings explained and coastal conditions.
Additional Information
- TTLock or Tuya? Forge builds gate locks for both platforms. The H10D is TTLock, like most of the smart locks we stock; the FORGE H100 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock is Forge's own Tuya-based app with Wi-Fi in the lock. One property, one platform - which platform is right for you and five questions that decide it.
- Not a pool barrier latch. A smart gate lock on a pool gate sits alongside, not in place of, the self-closing, self-latching hardware the pool barrier rules require. Contact us if the gate is part of a pool barrier.
- Gate alignment and sag. A mortice latch will not meet a strike that has dropped out of line. Fix hinges and sag before fitting; misalignment is the number-one cause of a lock that will not lock.
- Measure the stile at the lock position. Thickness, flat mounting area and backset all come from the stile, not the overall gate - wide or narrow stile?.
- Installation. A mortice gate lock in a metal frame is a cut-and-fit job with a template; most owners have it fitted. Terry's offers advice and installation across the Gold Coast.
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Questions buyers, installers and owners ask about the H10D. For general smart-lock questions see the Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13); for TTLock itself, the TTLock Platform Guide (Chapter 14).
Access and Credentials
Up to 100 fingerprints, 250 PIN codes and 1000 MIFARE M1 cards, plus app dynamic passwords with no stated limit. Fingerprints and cards are enrolled at the lock through the TTLock app over Bluetooth; codes and eKeys can be issued from the app, and remotely once a gateway is fitted.
Permanent, time-limited, one-time, cyclic (recurring) and custom codes - the six TTLock passcode types. A code issued for a gardener on Thursday mornings simply stops working outside that window.
MIFARE M1 (MIFARE Classic 1K) cards. Two come in the box and extra FORGE cards are available; how RFID credentials work is in Chapter 03.
Yes - the lock stores its last 300 operations as a rolling record, read through the app over Bluetooth. With a gateway the records are synchronised to the TTLock cloud as they happen.
On the exterior panel. Keep one of the two keys somewhere other than behind the gate it opens - where the keyhole hides on smart locks and storing the override key.
Remote Access and the Gateway
The FORGE TTLock Bluetooth to Wi-Fi Gateway (TTGTWG5), a dual-band unit that connects on 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Place it within Bluetooth range of the lock - usually just inside the nearest wall - and within Wi-Fi range of your router; Chapter 08 has the placement rules.
Yes. Fingerprint, PIN, card and key all work at the gate with no network, and the app still works over Bluetooth when you are in range. Only remote unlocking and cloud syncing pause until the connection returns.
Usually the router. Single-band 2.4GHz gateways fight with routers that merge bands; the dual-band FORGE gateway avoids most of that. The rest is in why smart locks drop off Wi-Fi.
Fit and Installation
Forge supplies the H10D mortice in 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 60mm. On a narrow aluminium frame the backset is dictated by the stile width; on a wide timber gate you have more choice. What backset is, how to measure it and frame size against lock options.
35mm to 100mm. Thinner than 35mm and the panels cannot sandwich the gate correctly; thicker than 100mm needs the 50-120mm FORGE H100 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock.
The latch projects 12mm, so Forge recommends a closed gap of 10mm or less at the latch position. A wider gap needs the strike packed out or the gate adjusted.
Confirm the opening direction before ordering, as Forge asks; the installer sets the lock up to suit. How to determine your handing.
It is a mortice installation into a gate frame with a cutout template - straightforward on timber, a fabrication job on steel or aluminium. Most owners have it fitted; Terry's offers advice and installation across the Gold Coast.
Power and Weather
The lock uses a removable rechargeable lithium battery supplied in the box, rated by Forge for at least 3,000 unlocks. Charge it when the lock or app warns of low battery. If it goes flat, a power bank on the exterior USB Type-C port (5V / 1A) powers the lock long enough to unlock and recharge.
-15 to 65 degrees C and 15 to 93 percent relative humidity, with IP66 ingress protection. IP66 is an ingress rating, not a corrosion rating - in salt air rinse the lock with fresh water from time to time and keep the seals seated; the realities of electronic locks on the coast and corrosion grades explain why.
Platform and Suitability
TTLock is the platform we recommend most and the one behind most of the smart locks we stock, with a mature gateway range and short-stay PMS integration. Its published security history is set out in Chapter 14 rather than hidden. Compare it with Tuya in which platform is right for you.
Yes, with a gateway. Timed codes per booking, remote cancellation and an entry log are the short-stay essentials, and TTLock integrates with the common property management systems. See Chapter 07 - smart locks for short-stay.
