ASSA ABLOY Aperio® P100B-100 Wireless Padlock - RFID + BLE Mobile Access, IP66
The ASSA ABLOY Aperio® P100 is a battery-powered wireless access control padlock designed to bring non-standard openings into an Electronic Access Control (EAC) system without wiring the opening. It is commonly used for gates, fences, cages, containers, and tool storage where a traditional door lockset is not practical.
The P100B-100 communicates using 2.4 GHz Aperio wireless (IEEE 802.15.4) to a compatible Aperio communication hub, while supporting 13.56 MHz RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) credentials and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) mobile credentials. Communication is protected with AES 128-bit encryption, and the padlock includes smart credential handling features to help maintain access during system or communications issues.
Special Order - estimated 12 business days from order.
The Aperio P100B-100 is a special order item with an estimated lead time of 12 business days. As a special order product it is non-returnable unless faulty. Confirm specifications and system compatibility with your access control installer before ordering.
Key Features
- Wireless Aperio integration to extend an Electronic Access Control system to non-standard openings - no door wiring required at the opening.
- RFID + BLE mobile access in the same device (13.56 MHz RFID + Bluetooth Low Energy smartphone credentials).
- AES 128-bit encrypted wireless communication.
- IP66 rated for rugged outdoor environments (note: IP66 rating applies when locked and upright - see Installation Notes).
- Smart credential handling: up to 10 override credentials stored for emergency access; up to 1,000 last valid credentials cached for up to 30 days to help maintain access during comms or EAC interruptions.
- LED status indication for clear visual feedback.
- Freely rotating lock cam to reduce attack leverage and improve durability.
- Battery life up to 30,000 cycles / 2 years from 1 x CR2 Lithium battery.
Access Features
The Aperio P100B-100 supports two credential types - RFID cards or tags and BLE mobile credentials. For background on how RFID credentials work, including the MIFARE standard and individual card revocation, see our access methods guide.

Battery, Power & Backup Access
- Powered by 1 x Lithium CR2 battery.
- Battery life: up to 30,000 cycles (max 2 years) under normal conditions.
- A battery change tool is supplied with the padlock for servicing.
- No emergency power input is specified for the P100 padlock - plan battery maintenance accordingly to avoid access failure.
- No mechanical key override is specified - access is credential-based only (RFID or BLE mobile). See our smart padlock guide on what no key override means for access continuity.
Remote Access & System Integration (Aperio Hub Required)
The Aperio P100 is not a Wi-Fi padlock. It communicates using 2.4 GHz Aperio wireless (IEEE 802.15.4) to a compatible Aperio communication hub, which then links back to your Electronic Access Control system. Online or offline integration depends on the EAC and hub configuration.
Supported hub accessories for integration include the AH30-3-0 (1:16 RS485) and AH40-4-0 (1:64 IP/Ethernet).
Installation & Operation Notes
- IP66 condition: The IP66 rating is specified when the padlock is locked and held in an upright position. Do not rely on the IP66 rating when the padlock is open or tilted.
- Battery access clearance: Allow at least 20mm shackle clearance for battery change access. Confirm clearance is available in the intended installation position before fitting.
- Avoid high-pressure wash-down or submersion, and avoid corrosive or explosive environments. Refer to the installation instructions PDF for full environmental exclusions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the P100 connect to Wi-Fi?
No. The P100 is not a Wi-Fi padlock. It uses Aperio 2.4 GHz wireless (IEEE 802.15.4) to communicate with an Aperio hub, which then connects to the access control system. The padlock itself has no Wi-Fi capability.
Can I use phone access?
Yes. This model supports BLE mobile credentials in addition to RFID credentials. Both access methods are available in the same device.
Is there a mechanical key override?
No mechanical key override is specified for the P100 padlock. Access is credential-based only (RFID and/or BLE mobile). Plan battery maintenance accordingly to ensure access is not lost due to a flat battery.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes - it is specified as IP66. The IP66 rating applies when the padlock is locked and upright. Avoid submersion, high-pressure wash-down, and corrosive environments.
Additional Information
Recommended use case: The P100B-100 is the appropriate choice for upgrading non-standard openings - gates, cages, containers, and similar - into a managed Electronic Access Control system without running wiring to each opening. The system infrastructure cost (Aperio hub and EAC integration) needs to be factored into the project scope. This is a professional enterprise access-control padlock, not a standalone consumer smart lock, and is typically specified and commissioned by an accredited installer.
System dependency: Access control decisions are made in the EAC system when integrated online. Offline behaviour - including the credential cache (up to 1,000 credentials, up to 30 days) - depends on the EAC and hub configuration. This should be confirmed with the integrating installer before deployment.
Maintenance: Keep seals correctly seated during battery servicing to maintain the IP66 ingress protection rating. Use only specified CR2 Lithium batteries.
