Borg BL2601 MG Pro ECP Mechanical Digital Knob Lock – Marine Grade Pro – Easicode Pro – 60mm Backset – Black
The Borg BL2601 MG Pro ECP is the manufacturer's highest-specification marine grade mechanical digital knob lock with on-door code change. It combines the MG Pro 2 marine grade finish – an improved formulation providing increased protection against saltwater corrosion and greater UV resistance compared to the standard MG Pro – with the Easicode Pro (ECP) on-door code change system. The code can be changed while the lock is installed on the door, without any removal or programming tools.
Like all products in the BL2600 ECP series, the lock has been tested to 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray and was specifically developed for marine applications where compliance with the ISPS code (International Ship and Port Facility Security code) is required. It is suitable for external medium duty doors and gates in coastal, marine, and saline environments.
The lock uses a clutching knob mechanism: the external knob is free-turning until the correct PIN is entered, preventing forced rotation. The inside lever handle is always free to turn for immediate egress. An anti-thrust deadlatch pin locks the latch automatically when the gate or door closes. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and has no wiring of any kind. It is cycle tested to 50,000 operations and accepts doors and gates up to 85mm thick.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2601 MG Pro ECP uses Borg's MG Pro 2 marine grade coating – an upgrade over the standard MG Pro finish. MG Pro 2 provides increased protection against saltwater corrosion as well as greater UV resistance, making it the correct specification for pool gates, waterfront properties, and marine facility applications.
Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray exposure. The BL2600 ECP series was specifically developed for marine applications requiring compliance with the ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) code.
The PIN code can be changed while the lock remains installed on the gate or door using the included code change key. No lock removal, no programming tool, and no special knowledge required. The entire code change process takes approximately 10 seconds once the procedure is familiar.
The BL2601 MG Pro ECP is entirely mechanical. There is no power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point in the product's lifetime.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL2601 MG Pro ECP accepts one active PIN code at a time. Multiple codes cannot be stored simultaneously.
Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount this lock on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm aluminium frame?
Worried the standard 60mm latch included in the box won't fit the frame?
You're right — it won't.
To fit correctly on gate frames you will need the shoter latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the PIN code on the BL2601 MG Pro ECP?
With the door held open, enter the current PIN code, then insert the included code change key into the hole in the * button and press and hold it down. Press C to clear the existing code, enter your new code, then release the code change key from the * button and press C again to confirm. The new code is now set. Test it at least five times before closing the gate or door. If a mistake is made while entering the new code, press C to cancel and start again from step one.
What is the difference between the BL2601MGPRO and the BL2601MGPROECP?
Both are marine grade pro knob locks for outdoor and coastal gate applications. The key difference is the code change method. The BL2601MGPRO uses the traditional tumbler system – the lock must be removed from the door to change the code. The BL2601MGPROECP uses Easicode Pro, allowing the code to be changed on the door in around 10 seconds without any removal. The ECP version also uses the improved MG Pro 2 coating and suits doors up to 85mm thick, compared to 80mm for the non-ECP model.
Will this lock fit on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
The 60mm backset latch included in the box is designed for standard door or gate leaf applications. On narrow aluminium gate frames (50mm x 50mm or similar), the standard latch will not align correctly with the gate frame. An extended gate latch (BLS272000 – left and right hand options available) is required. Search BLS272000 on the site before completing your order if fitting to a gate frame.
Can the code change function be locked out?
Yes. An optional code change disabling plug (lug) is included in the box. Once inserted into the code change hole on the * button, it prevents the Easicode Pro code change procedure from being initiated. This is useful in managed or shared-access environments where only an administrator should be able to change the code. The plug can be removed if code change access is needed again.
Is the BL2601 MG Pro ECP suitable for pool gates in Queensland?
The lock provides keyless access and high-specification marine grade corrosion resistance appropriate for pool gate environments. Pool gate compliance in Queensland is governed by the Pool Safety Standard under the Building Act 1975, which sets specific requirements for self-closing and self-latching mechanisms. Compliance must be confirmed with a licensed pool safety inspector before specifying any lock for a pool gate. Terry's can advise on the correct extended latch and installation approach for your specific gate.
Additional Information
The Easicode Pro code change is performed with the door open. After setting a new code, the instructions specify testing it a minimum of five times before allowing the gate to close. This confirms the code change was completed correctly and the new code reliably retracts the latch, preventing accidental lockout.
The MG Pro 2 coating used on this product is Borg's improved marine grade finish providing greater saltwater corrosion resistance and UV resistance compared to both standard finishes and the earlier MG Pro coating. For properties within close proximity of the ocean, on canals, or at marina facilities, MG Pro 2 is the appropriate specification. The standard BL2600MGBC uses a standard marine grade finish and does not carry a manufacturer salt spray test rating.
Monthly: clean the keypad and latch surfaces with a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (such as GT85); remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 – they attract dirt and accelerate wear of internal components. Annually: remove the lock, spray internally through the button holes with silicon-based lubricant, test all buttons and the knob, and inspect the latch for wear. Full servicing instructions are in the Borg Servicing Guide PDF below.
The anti-thrust pin beside the latchbolt must sit on the face of the strike plate when the gate is fully closed – it must not enter the hole made for the latch bolt. If the anti-thrust pin enters the hole, the deadlatch will not activate and the lock may be vulnerable to forced entry via shimming. Adjust the strike plate position at installation and verify the anti-thrust pin sits correctly before putting the gate into regular use.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
