Borg Mechanical Digital BL5201MG – Lever/Lever – External Grade – Polished Chrome
The Borg BL5201MG is a fully mechanical external grade digital lever lock. The clutching outside lever requires a code to open; the inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress. Finished in polished chrome plate with 316 grade stainless steel internal components, warranted to resist corrosion in normal weather conditions for up to one year. Suitable for external use — not suitable for coastal or saline environments.
Features a 60mm heavy duty stainless steel tubular latch. Up to 2,084 code combinations. Light to medium duty. Suits doors 35mm to 80mm thick — a wider range than the satin chrome BL5201SC. Optional free passage function (F button). 8mm square spindle drive compatible with most leading lock brands. No batteries.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The inside lever is always free to turn. No code is required to open the door from inside. Only the outside (keypad) lever requires a code.
Special layers of polished chrome finish applied to the outer housing and lever. 316 grade stainless steel internal components. Guaranteed to resist corrosion in normal weather conditions for up to 1 year from date of sale.
The BL5201MG uses a polished chrome plate external grade finish — not a Marine Grade Pro coating. Do not specify this lock for coastal, beachside, poolside, or saline environments. For marine grade pro construction (1,000hr salt spray tested), see the Borg Marine Grade Pro range.
The BL5201MG uses a 60mm heavy duty stainless steel tubular latch — not a euro mortice lockcase. The 8mm square spindle drive is compatible with most leading mortice lock brands if a mortice latch body is preferred.
After entering the correct code and rotating the outside lever, press F to engage free passage mode — the outside lever becomes free-turning without code entry. To cancel: press F then C until an audible click is heard. The F tumbler disc can be permanently removed if free passage is never required.
Tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the outside keypad must be removed (4 red screws). Lift the cover plate (springs attached), hold the C tumbler depressed, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Code length adjustable 3–7 digits.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For marine grade: see the Borg MG Pro range. For heavy duty: consider the Borg BL7701.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between BL5201MG and BL5201SC?
The BL5201MG is the external grade version: polished chrome plate finish, 316 SS internals, warranted for normal weather, suitable for external use, suits 35–80mm doors. The BL5201SC is for internal use only in satin chrome and suits 35–54mm doors. Choose BL5201MG for external or weather-exposed locations; choose BL5201SC for internal doors.
Is this lock suitable for a coastal or beachside location?
No. The BL5201MG uses a polished chrome plate external grade finish — not a Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro 2) coating. It is warranted for normal weather conditions only and must not be specified for coastal, beachside, poolside, or saline environments. For those applications, see the Borg Marine Grade Pro range (MG Pro 2 coating, 1,000hr salt spray tested).
How do I activate and cancel the free passage function?
To activate: enter the correct code, rotate the outside lever, then press the F button. To cancel: press F then C and wait for an audible click. To permanently remove the function, open the keypad and replace the F disc with a coded or non-coded tumbler. This increases the combination count from 1,024 to 2,084.
How do I change the PIN code?
Remove the outside keypad (4 red screws). Lift the cover plate (springs are attached). Hold the C tumbler depressed. Use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. All square cut-outs must face outward; coloured marks must face upward. Test thoroughly before reinstalling. Codes are non-sequential. Spare tumblers adjust code length from 3 to 7 digits.
What doors does the 35–80mm thickness range suit?
The BL5201MG includes spindles to suit doors from 35mm to 80mm thick — a wider range than the BL5201SC (35–54mm). This makes it suitable for solid timber doors, thick composite doors, and heavy commercial door leaves that exceed the 54mm upper limit of the standard BL5000 series.
Additional Information
In exposed external locations, wipe the keypad and lever surfaces monthly with a soft damp cloth. Apply a light spray of silicon-based lubricant to the latch bolt and spindle annually. Do not use oil-based lubricants. Inspect and tighten any exposed screws regularly.
The tumbler code can be set on the bench before installation. Set and verify the code before mounting to avoid removing a fitted keypad for the first code change.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor for Borg Locks.
