algoPIN codes are cryptographically generated on the lock itself, which means they validate offline. If your property's Wi-Fi drops mid-stay, guests can still enter. Codes are issued in four types — one-time, permanent, recurring, and duration-based — all managed through the igloohome app (iOS and Android). Bluetooth digital keys can be shared with unlimited users via the app for proximity-based unlocking. Frequently Asked Questions
Can Airbnb guests enter without the igloohome app?
Yes. Guests only need the PIN code — they enter it directly on the padlock keypad and do not need to download any app, have Wi-Fi, or have internet access at the lock. As an Airbnb host, you generate guest codes through the igloohome app or your property management platform. The code is sent to guests before check-in and expires automatically at checkout. The lock validates codes cryptographically on the lock itself, so your guest's code works even if your property's Wi-Fi is down. What happens if the battery dies completely?
If the battery is fully depleted, the lock can be jumpstarted using a USB-C to USB-C cable connected to a power bank. Connect the cable to the USB-C port on the lock, wait for the lock to power up, and enter a valid PIN code within 20 seconds. There is no mechanical key override — the jumpstart method is the only emergency access option. This makes it important to monitor the low battery alert (audio and LED indicator) and recharge the lock before it is fully depleted, particularly for remote installations.
Is there a mechanical key for backup access?
No. The Padlock 2 has no mechanical key cylinder. This is intentional for keyless deployments — there is no key to lose, copy, or hand over. Emergency access when the battery is flat relies on a USB-C jumpstart from a power bank. For any deployment where mechanical key backup is required, the Padlock 2 is not the appropriate product.
Can the Padlock 2 be used with a chain, on a hasp, or through a locker?
Yes. The Padlock 2's shackle opens fully for threading through chains, hasps, locker hardware, and fence fittings. The shackle inner clearance is 24.3 x 35.6mm, which accommodates most standard chain links and hasp fittings. Note that when the shackle is open, it should be pulled to its fully extended position before attempting to swivel it — see the shackle handling note in Additional Information below.
Can the Padlock 2 connect to the igloohome Wi-Fi Bridge for remote access?
Yes. The igloohome Wi-Fi Bridge (sold separately) is compatible with the Padlock 2 at a maximum Bluetooth range of 10m (line of sight). With the Bridge connected, you can remotely unlock the padlock from anywhere in the world, receive near real-time push notifications when the lock is opened, and retrieve activity logs via the igloohome app. The lock continues to operate normally via PIN code and Bluetooth if the Bridge is offline. igloohome issued a technical bulletin regarding shackle rotation on earlier Padlock 2 (SP2) units with serial numbers beginning with SP2X-18 or lower. On these units, the shackle must be in its fully extended (fully pulled up) position before attempting to swivel it away from the body. Attempting to force the shackle to rotate while it is not fully extended may damage the padlock. Units with serial numbers SP2X-19 or higher incorporate a redesigned shackle that can be rotated in any unlocked position without this limitation. Check your serial number if you experience resistance when swivelling the shackle. Current stock supplied by Gold Coast Smart Locks is sourced as available — check the serial number on the unit received.
Because the Padlock 2 has no mechanical key override, the lock becomes inaccessible if the battery is fully depleted and no power bank is available. For remote installations — rural gates, rental kiosks, off-grid sheds — establish a charging schedule before the battery gets critically low. The low battery alert (audio + breathing red LED) provides advance warning, but at very low temperatures battery capacity is reduced and the alert may come later than expected. Charge the lock fully before deployment and schedule a recharge at least once every 6-7 months. Keep a USB-C power bank on site or accessible at remote locations.
Security Lockout can be configured in the igloohome app to trigger after 1-10 incorrect PIN attempts (or disabled entirely). Once triggered, PIN entry is disabled for 30/60/90 seconds on successive activations, followed by a 1/5/10-minute lockout — the escalating pattern deters brute-force attempts. Auto Lock must be enabled for the shackle to re-engage automatically when closed; if Auto Lock is set to "never," the padlock must be manually relocked by holding the unlock button for 2 seconds. For rental and unattended deployments, enable Auto Lock with a short delay to ensure the lock re-engages after each use. Relock Reminder Alert can be set to audibly remind users to close the shackle between 5 seconds and 10 minutes after unlocking.
The Padlock 2 (SP2) sold here is the consumer and short-stay rental model. igloohome also manufactures a separate enterprise variant — the Padlock 2E (SP2E) — which has a longer body (55 x 82mm vs 55 x 78mm), boron steel shackle (vs hardened steel), IPX8 rating (vs IPX7), a longer 12-month battery life, and CEN (EN12320) Grade 3 certification for higher-security commercial applications. Warranty Summary
How to Make a Claim
- Gather the required documents: your original invoice, a video clip clearly showing the defect, and proof of ownership.
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries — your authorised igloohome reseller — using the Returns & Warranty page above. Warranty claims must be lodged from the country of original purchase.
- igloohome may conduct diagnostic tests to determine the nature and cause of the defect. Their assessment is final.
- If the claim is approved within the warranty period, igloohome will repair the product, replace it with the same or closest available product, or refund the amount paid — at igloohome's discretion. Repaired or replaced products continue to be covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.
- Any replaced or fully refunded product becomes the property of igloocompany and must be returned in accordance with their returns policy. Delete all personal data from the device before returning it.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Damage from impact, shock, accident, fire, flood, earthquake, lightning or other acts of nature
- Exposure to sand, extreme temperatures or environmental conditions outside the product's specifications
- Battery corrosion or chemical corrosion
- Abuse, mishandling, improper installation, improper operation, or failure to follow igloohome's care and maintenance recommendations
- Use of incorrect electrical supply or voltage
- Damage caused by software, apps, accessories or peripheral equipment not supplied or approved by igloohome
- Unauthorised alteration, modification, adjustment or tampering
- Replacement of parts with components not supplied or approved by igloohome
- Missing accessories or external parts, unless reported within 3 calendar days of original retail purchase
- Cosmetic damage to the outer surface or finish (e.g. scratches, dents, stains)
- Deterioration due to normal wear and tear, including corrosion or rust
- Damage occurring during transit, delivery, packing, unpacking, or installation not carried out by an igloohome-authorised installer
- Non-failure problems such as reception/incompatibility issues, software updates, password resets, routine servicing, battery changes, cleaning or product demonstrations
- Software and consumable items, even if packaged or sold with the product
- Minor imperfections within design specifications that do not materially affect functionality

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
